Corona Regulations on Refugee Night

We are doing everything we can to make Refugee Night on 11-12 September a beautiful, safe and responsible event. The wellbeing of all our participants and volunteers is paramount. Which corona regulations will apply?

Two scenarios

We are basing our plans on two possible scenarios to anticipate the regulations in force in September 2021. Both scenarios involve specific safety and hygiene measures and you can rest assured that we will deploy sufficient extra volunteers and infrastructure (disinfectant units at each location etc). Our policies are based on advice from official bodies such as RIVM and the Health Ministry.

Scenario 1: corona regulations are relaxed

  • Everyone starts together at the stroke of midnight.
  • Participants won’t have to maintain a 1.5 metre distance while walking (those who feel more comfortable keeping apart, may do so).
  • Participants may walk together in groups and teams.
  • The usual festive start and finish programme will culminate in high fives at the finish 🙂.

Scenario 2: corona regulations remain in force

  • A staggered start divided into time segments. Participants will receive their starting order prior to the start on 11 September.
  • Participants walk in groups of no more than three, maintaining a 1.5 metre distance. Unless they are part of a single household. Restrictions won’t apply to children aged 12 and under.
  • Participants will be dispersed across the route (large teams split into smaller units).
  • A minimal start and finish programme. Participants will be informed when we know more.

Improved safety

As usual, participants will receive a reflex jacket when registering. Volunteers and traffic stewards will be posted along the route and the Red Cross will maintain a series of First Aid posts. This year we will be taking extra care to ensure the safety of everyone walking during the night.

Contact

We will be abiding by all the corona regulations in force up to the start on 11 September. In mid-June, we will issue a new update regarding corona. If you have any further questions, please e-mail us at info@nachtvandevluchteling.nl or send a WhatsApp message to +316 23 46 10 33.
