Until when can I register?
You can still register up until the event. For now we have a maximum capacity of 3500 participants. So full = full. If you can no longer register for a route it means that the route is at full capacity. You can then register to be on the reserve list.
What is the maximum size of a team?
You may run with as many people as you would like. You can add team members as long as the registration is open.
I registered as an individual participant but now I want to participate with a team, is that possible?
Yes, you certainly can! Mail us the name you want to participate with and the team you want to walk with. Or, if you want to create your own team, mail us the name of the team.
Can I cancel my registration?
In case something went wrong, and you have to cancel your registration, you can do so by sending us an email. Unfortunately it is not possible to get your sponsor money back.
Can children also participate in the Night of the Refugee?
Everyone is welcome to participate in the Night of the Refugee. For the 40-kilometre route, we ask that children under 18 are accompanied by at least one adult who is registered as a participant.
What does it cost to register?
Participants do not pay an entry fee, but we do ask for a sponsorship contribution. The target amount for the 40 kilometre route is 250 euro. For the 20 kilometre evening route, the target amount is 100 euro. We understand that recruiting sponsors can be a challenge. However, it is not our intention to unsubscribe participants if the target amount is not reached. We will try to support you and help you find sponsors.
I have already collected the target amount. When do I get my e-ticket?
Every partcipant will receive their e-ticket on monday the 13th of June by e-mail.

Night of the Refugee will take place on the night of Saturday the 18th to Sunday the 19th of June 2022. For this year we also added and extra four evening routes of 20 KM in Rotterdam, Nijmegen, Amsterdam and Utrecht. Participants will start on Saturday the 18th of June at 19:00.

Everyone who feels engaged with the cause can register as a participant of the sponsor walk. The organisation reserves the right to deny participation in the event of racist, sexist, xenophobic or otherwise discriminating and/or insulting remarks.
Do I need to bring any food and drinks for the road?
There will be resting points along the way where it will be possible to buy small snacks (such as a raisin bun or a banana) and where you can get free coffee, tea and water. We will inform you about this in the week prior to the event.
Can I run or walk the distance?
No, you have to walk the route of the Night of the Refugee. Unfortunately, we don't allow relay
How are you dealing with the corona measures?
It is still quite difficult to predict what the situation will be like in June. We are working around different scenarios, just like for the 2021 walk, so that we can anticipate changes in time. In any of these situations, we consider the necessary safety and hygiene measures, and you can expect us to deploy additional volunteers and resources. We base ourselves on information from official government bodies such as the RIVM and the Ministry of Public Health. We are closely following the developments in the area of events and walks up until the start of the race on the 18th of June.
We were able to safely organise the 2021 race with the following modifications:
· Participants were asked to complete a health check on the day of the event;
· Both participants and volunteers were asked to keep the 1.5 meters distance;
· More hygiene and safety measures were applied;
· We had a phased start at the start lines;
· Rest areas became flow control locations.
Until when can you sponsor runners?
You can still sponsor the runners after the Night of the Refugee event has ended, up until the 1st of September 2022.
What are the transaction costs for a donation?
Stichting Vluchteling must pay service costs to the parties (Buckeroo & Kentaa) that take care of the correct processing of donations.
Stichting Vluchteling pays € 0.77 in service charges per donation. To reduce these costs please make a contribution.
Can I donate from abroad?
Donating from abroad is becoming increasingly easier. With our donation scheme, you can also easily and quickly contribute to your participation in the Night of the Refugee from abroad. You can donate from abroad provided that you have an IBAN number! This year, you can also pay with your credit card. Please note: your credit card may not (yet) be accepted by our payment system Buckeroo.
I have sponsored money to a participant but it does not appear on the profile page, what should I do?
Send an e-mail with the name of the person you want to sponsor and your own first and last name, and we will solve the problem for you as soon as possible.
What happens to the money raised?
All the money raised by the Night of the Refugee was spent on The Refugee Foundation's (Stichting Vluchteling) aid projects. Take a look at how we've spent money last year.
