Find sponsors who support your kilometers? Anyone can do it! We want to raise as much money as possible for emergency aid for refugees worldwide. To help you with that, we have the following tips for you.
Start your registration with a donation to yourself. Who knows, you might inspire your sponsors! Good example leads the way :)
Signed up? Upgrade your personal page with personal photos and texts. That leads to more donations. Upload photos that relate to you and your motivation to walk. Tell why you are participating and set a target amount, so that everyone sees what you would like to collect. Most of your supporters will donate because they like you and are curious about your decision to get moving for the Night of the Refugee.
The main reason people sponsor you with a donation is simply because you ask them personally. Which can be done:
Face to face (at work, school, association, on birthdays). Your page is linked to a unique QR code that the sponsor can easily scan with their mobile phone.
Share your page via Whatsapp or social media
Your family and closest friends are your biggest and proudest supporters. Ask them to support you (extra) by letting them share your page with their friends and family.
Stichting Vluchteling is affiliated with the ANBI quality mark. This means, among other things, that donations to the Night of the Refugee are deductible from income tax. This may make it attractive for your employer to sponsor you and/or your team! We can also prepare an invoice for your employer if that is convenient. In that case, please contact us.
In April we will announce which aid in which countries we will run. You always walk the Night for acute emergency aid to refugees worldwide. The proceeds will go to projects in various areas where this help is desperately needed. In well-known, but also less well-known crises.
In previous editions, the money went to water projects in Somalia, medical aid in Afghanistan and food supplies in Poland for Ukrainian refugees. Share with your supporters what you are walking for and what their donation contributes to. If your sponsors leave their e-mail address with their donation, they will receive a one-time e-mail from us in which we tell them how their donation is spend.
Tell your followers and friends on social media in a fun way that you are participating in the Night, by using our social downloads! These are ready-made images that you can download and post to let your supporters know how many kilometers you will walk, asking if they want to sponsor your kilometers.
Through your social media channels you can also let others know how your training and sponsorship is going and you can thank everyone for their support. When people see you are being sponsored, it motivates them to make a donation as well. Give it a go!
When posting, don't forget to use the hashtag #NvdV24!
For example, instead of money for presents, you ask for donations for your participation in the Night of the Refugee.
Are you good at baking, or are you creative? Your family, friends or colleagues will be very happy with it (for a small donation)!
Do you have a lot of clothes or things that you no longer use? Time for action on Vinted or Marktplaats!
A fundraising campaign is a great way to raise donations and show others how important your participation is to you...and to show others that you think it's important to make a difference for refugees.
June 15 is the day you will really walk the miles! Whether you go for the 10, 20 or 40 kilometers; it promises to be a special evening/night. Along the way you will come across various signs (for example halfway through your route and at the finish), which are very suitable for a nice photo! Share this moment with your sponsors to show that you managed to achieve this milestone!
